Family is important. Very important. Perhaps, the most important thing, to a lot of us. This year has been unusual at best, and devastating and its worst. But one thing has become clear. We have all spent more time at home and with our families than ever before. Whether it be during quarantine, or if you’re doing some combination involving learning at home, we have spent a ton of time together as a family.
I am a big proponent of trying to live in the now and enjoy each day that we are given. I often get stuck worrying about the future like everyone else. But it is crucially important to just enjoy each day. Enjoy the simple things together. Unplug. Have a home-cooked meal together. Really capture and lock away these memories.
As time continues, the memories might fade. Often kids grow up way too fast. The best way to lock away different moments in life is through photos. They say a picture can say 1,000 words. It is true. Pictures can help capture us as we are in this moment like a time capsule for our future selves.
This summer I was fortunate enough to partner with local mom and photographer, Jennifer, owner of Jennifer Christy Photography. She has a local studio right in Miller Place in the historic district on North Country Road. She is warm, friendly, talented, and professional. I was thrilled when I was able to invite her to our home to do a front porch session as a way to celebrate my parent’s 40th anniversary. She took great pictures of them and also of us all together as a group with my kids.
We all know kids can be very hard to photograph. They are always bouncing around and can be hard to capture a genuine moment or smile. Jennifer has been able to capture both.
Thank you, Jennifer, for helping my family capture this moment in time. Any time we are together is special, and something that I cherish and I know will look fondly back on as the years speed by.
