All Souls' Episcopal Church Announces No-Bake Virtual Cookie Exchange

By All Souls' Episcopal Church December 8, 2020

December is here! For many, the holiday season brings special memories of delectable aromas coming from the oven where sweets and treats are being lovingly made – perhaps for that jolly soul in the red suit? And “pre-COVID”, a favorite tradition may have included friends participating in a Christmas Cookie Exchange.

Since we can’t celebrate these traditions together this year, All Souls’ Episcopal Church is offering the enjoyment of a little friendly competition to support our Accessibility Project with a “No-Bake Virtual Cookie Exchange”! While the tradition might be just about cookies, to expand the reach for this special fundraising event we are looking to enjoy your favorite holiday season 'sweets & treats' and offer three categories for recipe exchange: Christmas Cookie, Festive Dessert, and Holiday Cocktail!

Please join All Souls’ Episcopal Church in supporting our Accessibility Project to make our ‘little historic church on the hill’ handicapped-accessible by participating in our No-Bake Virtual Cookie Exchange! Everyone is invited to make a donation in the amount they would spend on ingredients to bake a batch of their cookies or holiday dessert or to sip a seasonal cocktail. Donations will be used towards the planning and construction of making this historical gem of Stony Brook handicapped-accessible for all to enjoy!

Contest rules: Participants will submit a favorite Christmas cookie, festive dessert, or holiday cocktail recipe with a monetary donation equivalent to the cost of purchasing the ingredients for their recipe. A drawing will be held to select three winners among all entries - one cookie, one dessert, and one cocktail. Each winner will be awarded a prize(s) (min. $50 value) from a local merchant or eatery! An entry will be put into the drawing for each recipe donation made. The more “recipes” donated will mean better odds of winning! We will post all of the submitted recipes on our website, so you can try all of them in your own kitchen during this holiday season.

How to participate? Please make a tax-deductible donation pledge to All Souls’ Episcopal Church Accessibility Project with the recipe and drawing entry at this link: https://forms.gle/HezDjKRfqHR2ZCva6. Deadline to enter drawing: December 23rd (drawing to occur during our Christmas Eve church service). Donations without a recipe entry are also welcome and appreciated to help make our historic-landmarked church handicapped- accessible.  Check donations can be made payable and mailed to:  All Souls’ Episcopal Church Accessibility Project, P.O. Box 548, Stony Brook, NY 11790
