Valentine's Day is all about sharing love! We haven't seen our friends or family in almost a year. We definitely need to feel connected now more than ever! In this fun craft, we colored our heart doilies in three different ways. Pick one or all three - whatever you have at home! Then we pasted them onto construction paper and wrote a message inside.
Supplies:
- Heart doilies (try a dollar store)
- Style #1: paint pens/acrylics/paint supplies
- Style #2: shaving cream, food coloring, tray, cardboard
- Style #3: watercolor paint, paint supplies
- Construction paper (we used red and pink)
- Glue stick
- Markers, pens or pencils for writing
Style #1: using paint pens/acrylic/paint
Style #2: using watercolors
Style #3: using shaving cream and food coloring
For style #3, I put some shaving cream on a tray. Then we picked out what colors we wanted to try and dripped some drops of food coloring throughout the shaving cream. We mixed them up with popsicle sticks (and then of course our fingers). Then gently put down the paper doilies and scrap the shaving cream off with a piece of cardboard. Let it dry!
Assembly:
Once your heart doilies are dry, fold in half your construction paper to be shaped like a card. Paste your heart on the cover. Voila- you are done! Add some extra fun with glitter or stickers! I traced a message inside for my kids to trace over and I plan on getting some envelopes that are big enough to send these to our loved ones in the mail.
Happy Valentine's Day!
