Studio E has been serving the community with art education camps and classes since 1991! All of their camps are taught by professionals in the field with higher-level degrees in fine art. Their camps run Tuesdays- Fridays with morning sessions from 9 am-11:30 am and afternoon sessions from 12:15-2:45 PM. The tuition is $185 per week of half-day camp or $350 if the student enrolls in both the morning and afternoon camp for the same week. Half-day students should pack a snack and drink to bring every day. Full-day students should pack a lunch and a snack plus a drink. Supplies are always included in their camps!
Tween/Teen Summer Camp Topics (Ages 10-16)
Week 1: Tuesday July 6-Friday July 9th
9am-11:30AM "Zen Ceramics"
In this Pottery wheel/ hand-building combo camp, students will learn basic techniques with guided step by step projects that will keep them...zen! Projects will include wind chimes, a buddha, a lotus and more! Students will also get to learn the basics of throwing on a high powered pottery wheel. Emphasis will be placed on pottery wheel care and clean up, learning about the firing process, glazing process and getting familiar with frequently used tools. Please note, projects will need to be fired before they can be taken home. You will receive a call from us when your student's box of clay projects is ready for pick up. No prior experience in necessary!

12:15-2:45PM "Drawing From Nature"
In this camp, students willies nature as their muse! We will look at objects such as tree bark, sea shells, plants, rocks, sticks, fossils and more, learning how to break down the texture of these items in drawing form. This is a sequential camp, building the challenge level each day, in a personalized/ student centered way. We will explore drawing in colored pencil, charcoal and more, learning techniques in shading, crosshatching, color combining/ color theory and composition! A focused camp for the art lover in your life! No experience is necessary.
Week 2: Tuesday July 13th- Friday July 16th
9am-11:30AM "Beginner Painting Techniques"
In this camp, students will explore color theory and color mixing, while learning about shades, hues and tints to create all of the colors necessary for painting! This sequential camp will take students through several projects to learn basic techniques in painting! We will use still life and stock photos as muse for our creations. A great foundational camp for the young artist in your life!

12:15-2:45PM "Pottery Wheel Basics"
In this camp, students will learn beginner beginner techniques in "throwing" vessels on a high powered pottery wheel using stoneware clay. This camp is perfect for beginners as we will cover all aspects for getting started. Huge emphasis will be placed on pottery wheel care and clean up, learning about the firing process, glazing process and getting familiar with frequently used tools. A great prerequisite camp for anyone interested in getting started with throwing. Students with more pottery wheel experience are welcomed and encouraged to join! This camp supports all levels and experienced students will have more freedom to create as they wish, with lots of instruction to challenge them as well!Please note, projects will need to be fired before they can be taken home. You will receive a call from us when your student's box of clay projects is ready for pick up. If the student has extra pieces to glaze from previous camps, they may do so in this camp.
Week 3 Tuesday July 20th- Friday July 23rd
9am-11:30AM "Sculpting Animals out of Clay"
In this camp, students will learn basic techniques in handuilding with stoneware clay. The teacher will have a different guided project each day including an alpaca plate, a mug featuring their favorite animal and more! Students with more experience may work on independent animal sculptures instead of doing the step by step projects along with the teacher. Emphasis will be placed on carving animal textures such as fur, scales and more! Glazing is included. Please note, projects will need to be fired before they can be taken home. You will receive a call from us when your student's box of clay projects is ready for pick up. No prior experience in necessary. If the student has extra pieces to glaze from previous camps, they may do so in this camp.

12:15-2:45PM "Animal Portraits Drawing Camp"
In this sequential camp, students will explore colored pencil techniques learning to draw their favorite animals using stock photos for reference. Students will begin this camp by learning to draw animal textures using zoomed in photos to draw realistic looking fur, scales and other skin textures. We will cover skills in color mixing, shading, creating shadow, volume and composition. We will then get into drawing from photographs using our studio stock photos. Photos of pets from home as also welcomed to use as subject matter. All levels will be fully supported in this camp.
Week 4: Tuesday July 27th- Friday July 30th
9am-11:30am "Painting Sea Life"
In this painting camp, students will learn the basics of using tempera paint. We will explore color theory and color mixing, while learning about shades, hues and tints to create all of the colors necessary for painting! We will use stock photos as reference, learning to break down photographs into paintings. All levels will be fully supported in this camp.

In this camp, students will learn basic techniques in handuilding with stoneware clay. The teacher will have a different guided project each day including a mermaid/ merman, a sea turtle, an octopus and more! Students with more experience may work on independent animal sculptures instead of doing the step by step projects along with the teacher. Emphasis will be placed on carving sealife textures such as scales, suction cups and more! Glazing is included. Please note, projects will need to be fired before they can be taken home. Week 5: Tuesday August 3rd-Friday August 6th
9am-11:30am "Pottery Basics Camp"
This camp can act as a continuation for students who have taken pottery basics camps or classes before, and it is also perfect for students who are brand new to using a high powered pottery wheel. In this camp, students will learn beginner beginner techniques in "throwing" vessels on a high powered pottery wheel using stoneware clay. This camp is perfect for beginners as we will cover all aspects for getting started. Huge emphasis will be placed on pottery wheel care and clean up, learning about the firing process, glazing process and getting familiar with frequently used tools. A great prerequisite camp for anyone interested in getting started with throwing. Students with more pottery wheel experience are welcomed and encouraged to join! 12:15-2:45PM "Portrait Painting Camp"
In this painting camp, students will learn the basics of using tempera paint. We will explore color theory and color mixing, while learning about shades, hues and tints to create all of the colors necessary for painting. We will print portraits of each student's choice of celebrity, and students are also welcome to bring in their own pictures of friends/ family from home. Students will also work on a self portrait as one of the projects. This camp will support all levels with a student-centered focus.
Week 6: Tuesday August 10th-13th
9am-11:30am "Comic Illustration Camp"
In this camp, students will learn how to draw their favorite comic characters! (Marvel, DC, you name it!) Each student will receive their own sketchbook at the start of camp, which will be filled throughout the week! We will be exploring linework using sharpie markers and colored pencils. Students will learn what goes into creating their own character, such as developing the character's features and keeping them consistent when drawing the character over and over! Students may also delve into drawing their own comic strips in their sketchbooks. Group critiques focused on positive encouragement will help create a sense of group, and keep students engaged and inspired. No prior experience is necessary.

An exciting camp where students will focus on their favorite subject; Dessert of course! In this camp, students will learn basic techniques in handuilding with stoneware clay. The teacher will have a different guided project each day including an ice cream cone, box of French fries, a doughnut, a Starbucks drink and more! Glazing is included. Please note, projects will need to be fired before they can be taken home. You will receive a call from us when your student's box of clay projects is ready for pick up. No prior experience in necessary. If the student has extra pieces to glaze from previous camps, they may do so in this camp.
Week 7: Tuesday August 17th - Friday August 20th

12:15PM-2:45PM "Famous Artist Painting Camp"
In this camp, students will learn about the world's most famous artists! Students will create two projects per day inspired different artists. Artists may include Freida Kahlo, Yayoi Kausuma, Roy Ltchenstein, Hokusai, Laurel Burch and more! All projects will be step by step guided, using a variety of different mixed media materials. No prior experience is necessary.
Week 8: Tuesday August 24th- Friday August 27th
9am-11:30am "Exploring Mixed Media Techniques"
This camp is all about exploration and playfulness using lots of different media found around the art room! We will play with techniques in watercolor, collage, painted paper techniques, torn paper techniques and much more! There will be a fun warmup each day, experimenting with a featured technique which will lead into a guided project. A total of four projects will be created in our time together, with the intention of opening students up to new art forms and developing a playful attitude when creating! We will look at the artwork of different mixed media book illustrators such as Eric Carle and Leo Leoni and hypothesize about their artistic processes. A fun camp for students who want to get messy and have a great time!
